The popular local website AskAsheville.com has teamed up with me here at Amazon Art & Design to revamp and revitalize their blog. Formerly located at ashevillenorthcarolina.blogspot.com, the new site can be found at blog.askasheville.com. Many new features have been implemented, including:

• Fresh, new, easy-to-read layout
• Mobile version of the site
• Direct linking to AskAsheville.com

Don’t worry – all the old posts and comments are still available on the new site. What inspired this change? It all started with a layout. I was approached to make a couple changes to the existing layout on the blogger based site. Wanting to spread the WordPress love, I encouraged AskAsheville to let me rebuild the site on a WordPress platform, and remake the template. All that purple had to go! After drafting the initial concept, and going through a few revisions, the layout was pinned down. The next step was to transfer over all the content from Blogger to the fresh new WordPress site. After that was completed, I worked on adding some new functionality to the site, like making it friendly for mobile readers. If you try and access the site from your mobile device, you will automatically view the site in a  template designed especially for mobile devices.

Also in the behind the scenes work were some neat SEO and user interaction tricks that were implemented. All of this cool stuff tied in to make one awesome new blog for Ask Asheville.
